Can you please tell me is this issue occur with a particular workbook or all of your (*.xls) files?

Well, here I am providing a solution you can try the manual solution:

  1. Open Excel in application safe and then check how they work:

To do this, press the Windows + R key on your keyboard. In the Run box type in ‘Excel /safe’ and hit ok.

If application safe mode work, try disabling the add-ins associated with Excel application and check. To do this follow these steps:

  1. Open the application. Click on File and then click on options.
  2. In the Options Window click on Add-ins.
  3. Select Com Add-ins in the Manage list in the Add-ins section and click Go. Now uncheck the all the add-ins and click Ok.

You may also refer to the following article and check if it helps:

Note: The steps in the above article also applies to Excel 2013.
